The hard road!

What's my mission? It's exposing the horror of Human Trafficking here within the boundaries of the United States of America and what it looks like. It's not like the Movie Taken where girls are being grabbed off the streets. It's more intimate then that. It's more evil, more manipulative and more darker then people realize.

These girls are chosen into the business of the sex industry. No girl at the age of 13 chooses to be a prostitute, or a stripper. No girl at the age of 18 asks to be someone's bitch and to do sexual acts in some hotel room. They are chosen by pimps because they befriend these girls and gives them the idea of a dream that they desire. They feed into the life of the dream and these men know how to make these girls fall for it by being everything these girls need in a false hope these men provide them. They become the boyfriends, they become the person these girls need and the moment the line is crossed they have gotten them into doing what the men want by breaking them and these girls are never the same again. They are lured into the sex industry and some are lost to the business forever.

My job is to expose them, take them out of hiding so less girls are at risk to men like pimps, men who are buyers and men who think abusing girls is normal. The community needs to wake up because this is happening right now and a child is at risk to the horror of Human Trafficking and it's happening in our communities.

My job is to get more people aware so laws can be changed to protect this girls then have them be more victimized by the system then they already have been. This girls are not prostitutes but are prostituted children. Their is a difference and we should treat them as such because the moment we don't we have lost them to the system. We have lost their trust and we're making them into criminals and the criminals are the pimps and buyers not these girls.

My job is also finding funds to open safe houses for these girls so they can get back on their feet and get the support they need in a place of healing. The United States don't have many houses like this. That's a problem in my eyes. No girl needs to feel like no one cares about them. We need to love these girls and show them that their are healthy ways to live. They need to understand they have value and to do this they need houses away from the evil to get them back onto their feet. They are not victims but survivor's and they should have support .

I have a lot of jobs and with determination I will forge through and my hope is to save more children from the horror's of the sex industry. Sometimes I feel like I'm not making a dent but I have to remember this will take time and the more people I talk to about Sex Trafficking the more people will open up and then they will talk about it. We can end this child abuse to our children. It could be your child, your neighbor's kid and with knowledge we can save our kids from men who think they can use them for their sick games. I have hope! Take care, Peace!

Why?

The most important aspect of why I became an advocate for DMST is because of Fear. Thought out this process of educating myself on the harsh realities on this billion dollar industry, I realized most of my life my reaction to situations were based on some form of fear I had which included the Fear of Failing, Fear of Judgment,  and the Fear of Rejection. All three of these I can give you great examples of why I developed them. I realized if I was going to advocate I needed to be open about my childhood, my years of abuse and my trauma’s to give the community an understanding we have a massive problem in our society when everyday people are looking away from an industry that is abusing our young children for profit.
I understand the pain these children must be going through and thinking no one cares for them. They are trapped in a pit of hell. Sometimes we do things in our own survival that doesn’t necessarily mean society will accept it. The reason I said this because I know all too well of things I have done in my past to survival from one day to the next. Yes, I understand Abortion is a hot topic but for me it was done because I made a decision to fight for my life and I understand there are some people who see it differently and that’s okay to me.
Abortion is the least of these problems in DMST. There are more horrifying stories these children have gone through or situations they have done to just get by day to day. I have lived an interesting life and dealt with some pretty harsh realities but it’s nothing that these children are facing day to day and my fear of judgment is nothing compared to the hell they are living and that’s why it’s important for me to give and show we really do need to find the strength within us to face the fasts these children are out there right now in the pits of hell doing unspeakable things to survive. It’s not about me or you but about them. It should always be for them.
Take care, Peace!!

Things I'm working on!

So I've been building a presentation on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking to give an awareness to the community of how we as the Community can help bring these girls and boys home. How we can help restore their lives and to healing them from the struggles they will have. So far I have a basic outline but here is part of my personal touch on it...coming from my own words..........

Me-Darlene Williams ( To answer why?)
Between the ages of 15-23 years I was in a physical and emotional abusive relationship.
The question always comes up of why these girls just don’t run away, or leave their unfortunate situations? I can say from my own experience similar to these prostituted children is abusers have you where they want you.
For me, I got to a point where my identity was so messed up I didn't know who I was anymore. I was confused and I didn't know who really to trust because I had nowhere else to go.  My parents were alcoholics and verbally abusive and my abuser knew that. He had me captive within another cycle of abuse and out of fear of being abandoned I stayed and I believed his threats of rejection if I tried to end the relationship.
I accepted the mistreatment and I was also showered with gifts and it came with affection of love and I called this our grace period or honeymoon faze and it came after he felt remorse for using physical violence and after every beating or tear down he bought me beautiful gifts. I got beautiful jewelry and clothing and things I wanted. He would buy me flowers and take me places. I was his princess and he was my forever. I wasn't supposed to quit on someone you love. My mother didn't leave my father the moment she learned he was abusing his children so why should I leave because my boyfriend got angry at me?
He was my first love, he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and I had plans for the future but then my fantasy would break the moment he laid his hands on me.  He promised me the world and I allowed him to treat me that way. I can’t remember how many times I did leave him and try to have a fresh start but out of fear and him promising me the world I would go back because I didn't know who I was without him. He was such a big part of my world I didn't know how to be alone.
When I finally had the courage to leave I had nothing left to give and with all the infidelity on both our parts the relationship just died. He killed everything within me to fight him and the only way of survival I needed a fresh start in life on my own terms. So I mustered up all the strength I had and I walked away knowing if I failed in life it was because of me and not someone saying I failed.
Characteristics of an Abuser!
I would like to give you the characteristics of my abuser. He was 4 years older than me and he was charming. He said the right things and he romanced me in the beginning buying me things and wanting to spend all his time with me. He was nice to my friends and he would buy us alcohol because we were underage and he wasn't  He was my ticket to freedom and he promised me he would take care of me and protect me from my parents. I fell more in love with him when he would stand up for me when my parents abused me.
After a month of dating he wanted to take it to the next level. He wanted to show me how much he truly loved me. So I agreed to give my virginity to him and after that our relationship changed. He wasn't so nice any longer. He would cause fights between me and my friends. When I didn't agree with his controlling behavior he would threaten me by saying he would tell everyone we had sex and I would be the school slut and he would ruin me.
He would become down right verbally abusive and at times pressuring me into having sex with him. Sometimes I look back and ask myself: Was it rape if I was a willing participant even though I didn't want to have sex? I became a 16 year old girl trapped in my own life of hell.

Opening Statement! First Draft
Sometimes we do things in our own survival that doesn't necessarily mean society will accept it. 14 years ago in the summer of 1998 I was raped and due to the rape I got pregnant and with a lot of thought chose to have an abortion. It was my last stand of everlasting abuse in my own life and I was going to stop this generational cycle of abuse within my own family. It would end with me.
I would in whatever power I could muster up to fight my past and at times, I lost the fight. I was broken and I was chasing a dream I so desperately wanted and it was to feel like I belonged, to feel accepted and to know why my life went down the way it did.   I tried hard and after years of self-destruction from an eating disorder, an image disorder, anxiety and OCD I worked through my problems with years of therapy, having children and learning to forgive myself of all the shame within my own life and I needed to learn to forgive myself for all the wrong within my life.
18 months ago I gave my life over to God in a prayer room in St. Vincent Medical Center because I was dying from compilations I had from catching pneumonia and also having lung surgery and if it was my time to go I was with peace with death.
Of course, I’m still here and since then Jesus has been healing my heart and here I am today talking with you because Jesus knew I could educate our community through the experiences I have lived and he knew my fear of repercussion for sharing my part of my life but today isn't about me but to educate you on how we can become Community Advocates for the Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking Industry.

I understand why I went through some tough times cause I wouldn't be able to do what I'm about to do!! Take care, Peace....remember we all can make a difference!!

Kids need better education in life!

So my daughter has been in school a week now. She's liking the first grade and I'm happy she's enjoying her time. I decided to add more onto my plate and home school both kids in furthering their education. I feel public school does nothing to give my children the heads up they need to succeed in adulthood.

Sure they will be in public school for the social aspect but being educated on a level of success I feel they will not get. I read my daughters elementary school ranked in the 500's out of 700's in our state of Oregon. I was shocked and appalled by those numbers.

I think our children in the USA are being under educated and the failure to see what government education is doing on our children to me is under-minding their futures. I wish my husband and I could afford private school because then I would know they are getting the education they deserve. Our public schools should be raise the educational bar so our school children have a chance to succeed once they finish their education. It doesn't cost money to expect more from your students.

Why do people want just average for our school children? Why not let them thrive to be the best they can be, to push them to want to do more than what's asked of them and to praise them for what they have achieved then rewarding to make them feel better.

Maybe I grew up in a different era or a Canadian education makes a difference but I believe a child who's in a great learning environment who is pushed a little to see what they can do while they are learning to the best of their ability is rewarding not only to the child but also for society. We want smart kids in our society and not kids who expect to just be average and scrap by in life. Our economy needs it and our society needs it. My children's generation in 40 years will be the leaders of tomorrow.

I also want my children to embrace failure so they can learn from their mistakes. Failure isn't a bad thing if you grow from learning from your mistakes. If you don't allow your children to fail in an educational situation you are not doing them any favors but hurting their growth in learning.

I always tell my children I have a few simple rules I ask of them:

Do the best to your ability! "Can I do better?"
Try new things
Enjoy your life and have fun!

My up bringing was a lot different then how I'm raising my children. I got the good education but lacked the parental encouragement. We all need to cheer our kids on and not accept just average but greatness because these children of today will be our leaders tomorrow. Have a nice day!!

Along way home!!

Sometimes I think about death. It's not like I want to die but I do think about it and what would happen if I died...and did I do enough to set my kids up to be okay without me? What do I want my legacy to be for my children?

I have all kind of questions I think about and try to find answers to some of them. I just think if I'm doing enough in regards to my family. The answer is no, and maybe the answer will always be a no, I'm not doing enough.

I have so much I want to teach my children about life, compassion, love and respect for oneself and respect for others. I want them to grow up to be leaders of good moral standing. I guess most mothers have these similar goals for their children.

So right now, I'm not ready for death. I'm not ready to leave this earth yet. I have so much to learn and so much love to give to my children and I'm sure life would be fine without me. I'm just selfish if I died today someone else would fill my role as mother to my children. I'm sure my children would adjust to any situation but I want to be mother, I want to be the teacher and I want to comfort my children when their hearts get broken. I want to watch all their milestones of ups and downs, their achievements, and their mistakes. I want to know them throughout their life to watch them be who they are as people.

Then what do I do if I don't want to die today? I give my children all that I can give today and everyday. I show them compassion, teach them about love and just support them and then the rest is up to them. I will never be 100% ready to leave them so setting them up to be strong, loving people who want to give something of themselves to humanity for the better of humankind then I'll at least feel like I did my part as a mother.

I always want my kids to try their best...Just try, I tell them. You can't do anything if you don't at least, try!! If you can't do it on the first try then do it again, and again until you get it. Life is frustrating but I want my children to know if they wait for someone else to give them happiness they will be waiting along time. Happiness comes from within not by material things. Material things are nice but they are not everything. You are not defined by what you have (material wealth) but what you give from your own heart.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not ready to die today or die tomorrow. I want to be selfish and be a spectator in my children's life journey to see them as they are today and what they will become tomorrow. I want to be apart of that. I want to be their mother, be there cheerleader, their shoulder to cry on and most of all I'm not ready to say goodbye yet.

Someday I will die but at least, I will know I did my best when I do. Take care, Peace!!

Don't be wasteful!!

I've been teaching my almost 4 year old about wasting food. He's been doing that lately asking for something to eat and then changing his mind or he asks for something then he only eats one bite out of it. It drives me up the wall. I didn't have a problem with this with my daughter and I was ready to starve my child for a few days so he understood about the importance of food.

My family has the luxury of having food on our table and are able to buy more.  It's not like we're the rest of the world because we can eat whenever we want. It's not like I want to guilt my kids with food but I also want them to understand we are the lucky ones who has food and we should appreciate what we have then just take food for granted like it will always be there.

So instead of starving my child to make my point of not wasting food and not using the line of "Kids in Africa don't have food" like my Parents used to use on me, I decided to go a different approach. You ask for something and you don't get anything else to eat until you finish the food you already have or at least make an honest effort.  It's like teaching him responsibility in the process.

I'm not the one to make the kids eat everything on their plates because that contributes to over eating but at least make an honest effort other than taking one bite of something and changing your mind.  My son has gotten in the habit of asking for something, taking a few bites, saying he's full but then 5 minutes later saying he wants something to eat because he's hungry. It's so wasteful and I really don't want to raise my children like that. Right now, we are blessed to just go out and buy food but we don't know what tomorrow will bring. We really don't know the future. Take care, Peace!!

Reality!!

The joys and crappy part of motherhood. Oh my, in between screaming to my kids to stop screaming I'm cleaning up all the crumbs and spilled drinks after lunch I look around and my first thought is to run out of the house pulling at my hair of extreme proportions of what was I thinking of wanting to be a mother but then the calms comes and the house is quiet for a few minutes and I'm reminded of the joy it brings to my heart WHEN the kids are getting along and out of the blue I get I love you mommy.

On the days where I'm being referee between my kids neither one trying to poke the other one in the eye I have to remember they truly love each other. Okay, I can only dream my kids love each other. Sometimes the chaos can't be normal. Our dysfunction can't be normal and I'm just this crazy mother just getting through the day in one piece and hoping my kids won't end up writing a book about me when they get older of how I ruined their lives.

I still after almost 6 years of being a mother my house is still dirty and messy. I have been told I should just let it go because that's the way it is with children. You will never sleep again, you will get worry wrinkles and your house will never be clean again but it's all worth it. So it's worth it and sometimes I wonder if these other mothers are only kidding themselves because being glued to your table by sticky fingers isn't my idea of worth it or being puked on, or laying in an uncomfortable position when your child is sick is really worth it to be a mother. It's all the great life challenges that are worth it that brings joy to my child's face is worth it.

Standing out in the cold waiting for the school bus isn't worth the joy in motherhood but it's a joy when the bus comes and your child bounces off the bus running into your arms because they miss you is worth being a mother. Those are memories that keep me from running out the door because as much as my kids can be difficult, never listen to me or annoying the crap out of me they are still apart of me and their cuteness always reminds me of why I wanted to be a mother. Take care, Peace!!

So long 2010!!

Well it's the time of year to reflect on the old year past and look towards a New Year coming. My blues have gone. I'm not so emotionally unstable anymore. My relationship with God is a bumpy one at best but I'm slowing surrendering my control over to God but I'm not quite there yet. Maybe this year with be the year of salvation for me.

Well Christmas was wonderful and traumatic all wrapped up in one little package. My 3 year old son decided he wanted to go super fast while he was standing on a swivel computer chair which he fell off and bit threw his lower lip which we spent over 3 hours at the hospital getting him stitched up. The process of the experience was horrible watching your child screaming for the doctor to be done while he was strapped down on a board with needles being poked in his face, tubes pushed through his lip to clean out his wound. It was something I hope I never have to go through again. This happened in the evening so we still had a great morning and was able to visit the rest of the family. My poor boy was so tired after his stitches he curled up in his fathers arms and fell asleep.

Today of all days our son got his fingers caught in our bathroom door and got some skin ripped off his little fingers. He can't wait to start the New Year. The last week hasn't been nice to him.

All in all this year compared to years past wasn't so much on the shitty list. It's been a building year with my health getting better, the family going to church, getting more fellowship and the daughter starting Kindergarten, the son in his early intervention class and the hubby and I got to get away to our favorite spot Reno for a few days.  We are blessed and I'm wishing everyone a blessed 2011 and see you next year. Take care, Peace!!

Good dose of Reality!!

My heart got a workout Monday morning and I'm hoping never have to go through that again in my lifetime. Our Monday started off like any Monday getting up at 7am to get the daughter ready for school. I woke up feeling not so hot like I was coming down with something or had something like a cold, infection, or flu and I new it could mean along day. We decided our daughter needed to have some more independence so last week while her grandmother was watching the kids while we were away would dropped my daughter off at the front door of her school and she would walk to class. When we got back from our trip her father kept it up and dropped her off in front of the school and she promised she would walk straight to her class.

So Monday was like any other. Her father dropped her off in front of the school and watched her go into the building and then he came home because I wasn't feeling well. 10am the phone rings and an automatic message from my daughters school saying she was absent from school. I think I about threw up. I told my husband to drive to the school and told him the school said she wasn't at school. My child wasn't at school. What happened to her? My husband saw her go into the school but she didn't arrive to her classroom. Where is she? I was in shock, I was panicked, I couldn't even cry and all I wanted was to hear good news. So while my husband was driving to the school I called the school to give the school the heads up he was on his way. Where is my daughter? Call 911!!!

The women on the phone said it was a clerical error and my daughter was at school but she got a tardy slip and because they were short staffed she got put on the absent list and that's why we got the automatic message. I was so relieved I couldn't even get mad. My daughter was safe at school in her class where she was supposed to be. When my husband got to my daughters school he checked in on her class and sure enough she was at her desk doing her work.

So this morning my husband walked her to the front door and watched her walk to her class but then she went to the cafeteria instead. That's why she was late for class on Monday. So he went in and walked her to her class. Her word "I promise to walk straight to class" won't work anymore so here we are going to walk her to class and deal with her independence another time.

I never want to get a message like that again from her school. My heart can't handle thinking my daughter went missing from school especially after a 7 year old boy went missing from one of our local elementary school last June. It's not something I want to hear from my daughters school that she didn't show up for school when she's supposed to be there. Take care, Peace!!

In times of Crisis!!

I think my heart skipped a beat when my daughter all in a panic made me go out with my cold/flu feeling self to rush outside in our back yard because she needed help. Call 911..call 911. I thought she was dying...yes, I went there. I was like what's wrong?...is there any blood? Are you okay?

"No, mother you have to save the neighbour's cat. He's stuck up on the roof. We got to save him......mommy, he looks scared...you have to do something!!!"
I'm thinking oh jeez, jump down so I can go back inside where it's nice and warm.

Seriously, I love this cat to bits. He comes to visit us often and loves our backyard. We even named him Blackie well because he's black. It fits him and he's cute. So after my heart calmed down I took a picture.

I'm glad he jumped down and is safely on the ground because frankly I don't know if I could handle watching a cat up on the roof all night. Now my daughter is drawing pictures of her experience and I can go back to resting. Take care, Peace!!

Worry who needs that!!

Wow, my daughter got my gene to worry. I have to keep bringing her back to present every other day. Lets get through today first. It's good to plan ahead and you're only five years old and when you're 10 years old we'll deal with being 10 years old then. I know it's exciting to be in the second grade and that's cool and all but lets deal with everything now in Kindergarten first. Yes, on your next birthday you will be six years old but lets get through Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas first and then we can plan your birthday. I don't know who will be coming to your party and it may snow on your birthday but lets deal with that then when the time comes. So many talks and so much comfort and sleepless nights.

I think my child will burn out before she turns 7 years old with all the possibilities of her life. I don't want to say it's silly because I'm kinda concerned for her. She worries all the time and some of the stuff she comes up with I'm like oh, sweetie I feel your pain. It breaks my heart at times when she gets herself so upset over things. I understand worry because as a mother I worry all the time.

So I started doing a Calendar with my daughter and only do one month ahead. We write weekly of all the things we are doing for the week ahead. It has worked somewhat on keeping her from future worries. I'm trying to get her more excited then scared. It has eased her a little and she's not asking of things much and more excited of what's ahead in the week then when she's 10 years old or what's going to happen when she's in second grade. I told her it's okay to think ahead sometimes but life changes so when the time comes to ride the bus to school after the winter holidays we'll deal with the excitement then. I want to rein in her worry so it's a healthier experience for her.

I think the future scares her and she's like me in a way she has to know. She has to know of her control with no surprises. She wants to prepare so she's ready. All I can do is comfort her and not dismiss her feelings. Giving her other options seems to help her with her worry. She's just a beautiful soul and I feel bad she's going through this. I hope I'm making her feel important!!! Take care, Peace!!

I am No SuperMom..deal with that!!

I never want to be a Supermom to where I feel like I have to take drugs to get me through life. I don't want the pressure for myself just to feel like I have to stretch myself in so many directions just to feel like I'm doing an outstanding job as a mother.

I'm not in a contest with other mothers to prove or show I'm better than they are. We are Mom's and it's a wonderful job at times and a horrible job at times but we do it and sometimes we don't feel appreciated being a mother but we do it anyway.

We are all working mothers with some who work outside the home and others who stay home. Some mothers are single mothers and some are not. At the end of the day we're still Mothers who love our children and want the best for them. Does it matter how we do it?

I value being a mother by the way my children are growing up in a stable environment with two parents who love and respect each other and that doesn't mean I think I'm better than the next Mom. This is how I want to raise my children and there is nothing wrong with that or wrong with how another Mother raises her children.

I'm getting out of this Mother competition society has put pressure on Mothers to be Supermoms.  We do it to ourselves and I'm not going to be apart of it. Judge me Judge me not..... I really don't care what you think. My kids are loved and that's all that matters to me at the end of the day. Some days are wonderful and some days are a struggle but I know I'm doing what I feel is best for my children.

The moment I feel like I have to take some brain altering prescription anti-anxiety or an anti-depressant drug to raise my children then I'll need to re valuate my life. It's not worth it to me to put that much pressure on myself and raising children shouldn't be a daily struggle or hardship. It should give you happiness so it carries you through the tough times. Take care, Peace!!!

Zombies have taken over!!

So I'm here being a Zombie with lack of sleep because both my kids decided sleep wasn't for them last night. First my oldest couldn't sleep by herself so I dragged her in with me so I could sleep but then a short while later the boy decided to wake up crying in the hallway so I dragged him in the bed with us also. BIG MISTAKE!! The kids thought it was fun time and wouldn't let me sleep. So from 12am until now...WIDE AWAKE!! with two cranky kids who don't want to sleep and I'm sleep deprived.

Why I broke my own rule and allowed them to co-sleep with me? Their father is out of town on another business trip to California for the week. I'm recovering from the flu/cold whatever I have and I need my sleep so the smarty pants I am thought if we all slept together in the same bed WE all would get a good nights sleep....look how that worked out for me?

Now a sleepless night and I'm hacking out a lung and my kids are fighting with each other on who kept who awake all night. I thought it was both of them but apparently I lost that battle.

So the three of us look like the living dead, cranky with some crying and that's just me. The daughter is upset I'm keeping her home from school today. I wonder why? and why punish her teacher because of my lack of good parenting. I'm sure lack of sleep for a 5 year old doesn't go well with learning in a school environment.

Life Lessons: never break your own rules!! Take care, Peace!!

Way to go Mom.. you suck!!

I do the best for my children. I do what's best for my marriage. I work on balancing out my life so I can give attention to everyone as best I can. I do what's capable of me with my health limitations. I know my health problems were tough on my family. They were tough on me so I understand.  I feel a lot of pressure all the time but I don't stew on it often because it's not healthy for me or my children. Mommy guilt can overcome me.

I have expectations I want for my children on how they represent themselves in public and at home. I think working on your behaviour starts at home. I want my children to learn how to interact well in the world and maybe I'm hard on them at times but if I allow them to just get what they want and allow them to just run a muck at home then I'm not doing them any favors out in the world. I'm working on balancing behaviour so my children learn that sometimes people will not like them but you still conduct yourself with kindness. Show by example!!

I am harder on my daughter then with my son because she's older. I discipline age appropriately.  When my son turns 5 years old I'll have higher expectations for him also just like I expect my daughter to listen and do what's asked of her for what's she capable of as a 5 year old. I know their limitations but I also push both my children to work a little harder when they get discouraged because giving up and not wanting to learn isn't helping them to grow as little people into responsible adults.

If I'm not going to teach my children how to conduct themselves with good behavior then who will...society?  I want my children to understand having a good moral foundation will set them up so when life throws them crap they know how to make the best out of a bad situation by being a leader in making good decisions and learning from the bad ones which means I have to give them understanding sometimes their behaviour stinks and then reward them when they are doing great.

I just want the best for my children and they are my responsibility as a stay at home mother to teach them right from wrong and it hurts when someone you love criticizes your parenting like I favor one child over the other. I love both my children but all children are different. One technique may work for one but it may not work for the other. It's a balancing act to give both my children the attention they need to strive in this world.

I went through the terrible three's with my daughter and now my son is starting his terrible three's and I'll just be as hard on him like I was on his sister because he needs to understand his bad behavior is not acceptable in our household. My approach may be different but in the end I'll expect the same results. Bad behavior is not acceptable.....period!!

I'm doing my best to give my family the attention, love and kindness I'm capable of and I'm balancing myself so we can function as a household. So my heart is bruised today and I'll get over it because I love my children to much to just give up over someone putting his foot in his mouth. Take care, Peace

Indianprincess...this is me!!

Who are you? Well my real name is Darlene. I like writing about random things and most of the time I'm listening to some form of music. I am a wife to the most understanding and supportive husband and I'm a mother to two wonderful little kids age 5 and 3. I have lots of self anxieties which neither is a hindrance or a gift. I haven't made up my mind about that yet. I characterize myself as an awkward goof with a kind heart. I kinda get flighty when I feel like life is getting too structured for me yet I like to be laid back and that's another conflicting trait I possess.

My husband is my opposite which comes in handy when I'm all over the place when I'm stuck in my head. He brings me back to earth with my wacky doodle tenancies. I like sharing my life experiences and I'm not ashamed of what I have written on my blog. It's my life and what can I do?

Some people may think I'm just crazy and I'm fine with that. I'll take the job as the crazy person because someone has to take the job. I don't take myself serious as you can tell. I like to bring emotion to everything I do. I like to be reminded people are human and we all have feelings especially one's we want other people not to know about. I'm typically in your face about it. I may inspire someone or at least give someone a good laugh. I'm not picky with my writing and it is what it is!!

I seriously want a tattoo but I'm afraid of needles and putting myself through pain just to have a cute picture permanently sketched on my skin freaks me out. I don't care for pain. That's why I don't have one. I can still dream.

I've been a diabetic since I've been 17 years old. It sucks!! When my Doctor's bitch me out for not checking my blood sugars more often I just want to tell them to shove the lancet up their asses. Poking your finger hurts like hell.

I still have my demons I'm dealing with for example I have body image issues contributed by my eating disorder and on my good days I feel sexy and on my off days I feel like a frumpy old women. When I feel like a new change it's usually my hair that gets mangled first.

Feeling like you have no energy to function is hard. Going through this time was hard and frustrating and so exhausting I really don't know how I managed. It amazes me how my family managed through the worst of my health problems and we may be a little off and dysfunctional but we're here and that's all that matters.

I'm a work in progress and I change everyday tweaking myself here and there. I try to stay positive and I'm trying to getting my dysfunction out of my life. I know it's part of who I am so maybe the correct thing to say is I'm working on my dysfunction so I don't let it run my life into the ground. One step at a time!! We all need a hero in our lives and mine is the world!!

This is who I am!! You like me or you don't. No love lost!! Thank you for stumbling upon my craziness!! Take care, Peace!!

It's just Hair!!

When I found out I was having a girl I made up my mind she would have long hair. My daughter will have long hair and that was that. Maybe my decision was because as a kid I wasn't allowed to have long hair. I can only remember having long hair twice when I was a kid but most of my childhood I had short hair. So I wanted my daughter to have long hair. I imagined doing cute pony tails, braids and using the cutest hair accessories. It was my dream for her. I knew how much I wanted to grow out my hair as a kid so I didn't give my daughter options. She has great hair and it grew out long and beautiful. I am kinda jealous of her hair and the color of her hair I've been trying to dye the same color for years.

So then 2 weeks ago my daughter asked me to chop off her hair. She wanted it short. I almost fainted!! It took her 3 years to go out her long wonderful hair. I just couldn't do it. I couldn't get the courage to cut off her hair. I tried but couldn't do it. I could only manage 4 inches. Lets just say she's smarter then me because she told me it's just hair. I know it's just hair and I know it's not on my head but.......yes, it makes me cry. I am emotional about it. She just doesn't know she has hair most people damage and dye and are deeply jealous of hair like hers. My sister was the same way and I was jealous of her nice long beautiful hair too.

I'm just afraid she will miss her nice hair and maybe I'm living through my daughter by keeping her hair long but she's been asking to get it cut so I'm going to cry silently and do what she wants. She's been talking about short hair for 2 weeks. As much as I wish she would change her mind it's her head and I should respect her wishes.

"Mom, it's just hair" and I just need to breath and let it go because she's right. It's just hair and it can grow out!! Take care, Peace!!

School is a Hit!!

So when my 5 year old Kindergartner came home from the first day of school she informed me school wasn't for her. She was not at all happy she had to work in school. She thought she would get to play like she did in Pre-School. It was a shock to her little system to say the least and she had enough of all this school business. That was it for her and no more school but I told her to give herself at least a week before she made up her mind about school.

Well it's been a week and each day the excitement of her day the moment she walks back in the door:
"Mom, they let me use a Computer today",
"Mom, they have a Music room"
"Mom, they sell Breakfast in the morning, can I eat there in the morning?"
"Mom, guess what, I can climb the rock wall in Gym class"
"Mom, they have a Library and I can check out books so you don't need to buy me books anymore"

I can go on and on. She loves school and gives me the low down each day about not making any friends yet. I'm glad she's enjoying herself but I'm not liking she only goes 2 1/2 hrs a day. I was shocked when I found this out when I registered her for school.

I'm impressed with her school so far and I don't have good trust when it comes to my children. If anyone is going to shrew up my children it will be me and my hubby not society. I'm very protective of them not to the point of sheltering them to death but making sure they have a strong moral and responsibility based on a good foundation. Life is yours for the taking and possibilities are endless but their is a way to do it without stepping on other people to do it. I will always teach my kids to work hard and not expect other people to just hand them things like entitlements. No one owes them anything.

I necessarily don't want my children to think like me neither but to learn to think for themselves and make up their own minds on matters that are important to them. I think my daughter will make lots of friends and she will be fine. Her curriculum for Kindergarten is a good program and her school so far is a good school. I wouldn't call it great but for a public school it's one of the good ones. In my own happy world I would have preferred my children went to a Private School because frankly they are much better but I'm not living in my happy world so Public School will just have to do.....for now!!

I enjoy her excitement and I love hearing her school stories. This year will be great!! Take care, Peace!!

Killer Allergies!!

Oh for the love all things holy, my eyes are on fire!! I noticed last night after Army Wives my eyes were swollen and they were kinda itchy and I thought because I was crying some of my makeup got into them. I went to bed with my eye drops and then this morning...oh my!!

My eyes hurt like crazy and they itch like mad and I thought I was going to poke my eyes out so they wouldn't hurt anymore. It's crazy and then I'm carry for a little boy who's sick with a mild fever. It's been a rough day. I want to cry but I don't think my eyes could handle crying right now. I'm sure they would start burning and catch on fire. I don't want that right now.

We think the boy caught a bug from my daughter's friend birthday party last Thursday. The day in the life of me of never ending allergies and little running noses. Some relief would help!! Take care, Peace!!

PS: Yesterday's airshow rocked!! I'm half blind so I kept taking pictures of birds thinking they were airplanes. Don't ask!! F 18's rule. Flew right over our heads yesterday. That was so awesome!!

Paving the way!!

Welcome to August!! I've been on a spiritual quest understanding life and I'm learning ways to make it better. I know I live in fear at times. I'm trying not to do that anymore. I'm not going to be afraid of this Government which they are slowly pushing it's citizens in chains. I'm not going to worry about it anymore because in the grand scheme of things I'm just one person. I can make a difference by showing by example. I want to be a good person by showing respect and love to my family and anyone who I'm blessed to meet.

You know with everything going on in this Country with people being divided I know what's in my heart and I know I'm no racist. I know I'm trying to do the best I can to understand. I'm trying to be a good example to my children.

Like I keep telling my daughter she can get better at playing her Wii Fit by practicing and over time she will get better. She gets frustrated at times because she wants to be perfect right away and I let her know by working hard she will get good. I'm proud of her and she works to her ability and she works at her game. She's getting good at some of those games on there...better than me at some.  I also tell her to enjoy what's she's doing and just have fun.

I want to bring out the best in my children yet at the same time I want them to know humility. It's okay to stand up for what you believe in and doing so to be respectful. Violence isn't the answer to getting what you want or bullying to make someone else to feel bad because you feel bad.

I feel blessed I'm on this journey and wanting my family to feel we can make life work under any circumstances as long as we believe we're good hearted people. Anything is possible as long as you work hard and put your mind to it. Take care, Peace!!
