Charice Pempengco!

http://www.charicepempengco.com/ I am a person who loves music. Awhile ago I watched a show on Oprah and usually I don't watch Oprah as much as I used to but this particular show was about young gifted and talented children. I love watching the talents of children and how inspiring it is that a 2 year old knows every Country in the World by pointing on a map or that a 4 year old can play the piano and so on. This show was a re-run of Oprah and she had a young girl who at the time was 15 years old and was discovered on You Tube. She was going to sing a Whitney Houston song. I was thinking good Lord I hope she can sing because it's a pet peeve of mine when a singer who thinks they have a voice butches a song from a singer like Whitney Houston. Charice grew up in the Philippines and now she was on Oprah ready to blow the world away. The moment she opened her mouth and started singing I knew this girl was going to go far in life with that powerful voice. I was speechless and on top of it crying with tears rolling down my face watching her perform. I couldn't believe this tiny young girl could sing like this. She was also on Ellen back in December 2007 which I watched the You Tube video of her performance. I just have to say..Wow with all her performances. I haven't been this inspired by a talented singer like this in along time. Yes, there are great singers but she in my opinion is at the top with singers like Celine Dion, Marah Carey, Whitney Houston and all the great Singing Diva's like Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin. Her voice is so powerful and every time I listen to her sing I cry like a blubbering idiot. The tears just flow and the emotions are of pure happiness. She's going to go places in her career and with someone like David Foster backing her up we will see a lot of her in the future. If you don't know who David Foster is go google him and then you will understand why I know she will go far in her career. Here is a link to Oprah's website where Charice was invited to sing with Celine Dion at Madison Square Gardens back in September 2008. http://www.oprah.com/media/20080919_tows_charice Geez, I can't stop crying when I hear her sing. This young girl inspires me and I feel it's important to give her a shout out and help promote her talent. She is an amazing young girl and her life story was hard yet she didn't give up on her dreams to be a famous singer. With dedication and hard work she is achieving her dreams one day at a time. On her website she has a video about her life. She is just beautiful and inspiring. I am blessed she wants to share her life story and her talent to the masses and I'm glad and thankful she lets me enjoy her voice. Go check her out and you will be surprised. You may not cry like a blubbering idiot like myself but she will just blow you away with her voice. I will be watching her career. Take care..peace!

WOW!!! Thanks for raving about the pride and joy of the Philippines. I have put together the best links to Charice videos below. Since she has hundreds of videos on youtube, the ones with the best audio and video are hard to find so I made it easier for you. Enjoy!!!

Please join us at charicediva.com. This is Charice's largest fansite with almost 5,000 members already. Here you will read all about her future appearances and guestings. She will be part of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade in NY. Also, she is included in David Foster and Friends CD/DVD which will be released this November 11, 2008.

===========================================
Please allow me to introduce you to a fast rising young diva with a powerful voice.

Charice started joining singing contests at a very young age. When she was 12 years old, she joined a kiddie singing contest called Little Big Star. Unfortunately, she only placed 3rd and she was so depressed that she nearly gave up on her singing career. As fate would have it, a fan (FalseVoice) who had a youtube account, posted this video of hers singing I Will Always Love You comparing her with America's Got Talent winner Bianca Ryan:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpDP8kP65mI

The video generated more than a million hits before it was pulled out but not before a Swedish recording company got interested in Charice. They got her to record 7 songs but for some reason the album was never released.

STARKING, a top variety show in Korea invited Charice to go to Korea to perform in their show. She sang the Dreamgirls song, AND I AM TELLING YOU and she amazed everybody with her strong vocals and superb showmanship. This video had more than 4 million hits before it was pulled out by youtube:

The first STARKING appearance was so successful, they invited her again to Korea:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A90mc825AOw&feature=related - hey she can do the 'moonwalk' dance by Michael Jackson too

Last April, a popular show in London, the Paul O'Grady show guested Charice and she got 2 standing ovations.

Last May 17, she was the surprise performer in a concert organized by David Foster. She prepared and was only supposed to sing one song (WHITNEY HOUSTON MEDLEY) but the audience kept asking for more. Then David Foster went up the stage and they performed (unrehearsed) her favourite song, AND I AM TELLING YOU. Needless to say the audience gave her a second standinig ovation. Per a news article that came out, she was the ONLY peformer who got a standing ovation (and 2 at that) even though Josh Groban, Alicia Keys and John Mayer also peformed.

Next stop for her was in Las Vegas last May 23rd wherein she has been invited again by David Foster to peform in his concert. Charice rendered a WHITNEY HOUSTON MEDLEY and got a rousing standing ovation for her efforts. Please take not this is just a video taken by a fan. The official CD and DVD will be available later this year and the entire concert will be aired on PBS this December 2008.

This was her 2nd song from Dreamgirls wherein she got her 2nd standing ovation from the appreciative audience:

David Foster recently said that he will announce a record deal soon. He said that Oprah is really determined to make her a superstar. Not bad for a girl who grew up in poverty and who was abandoned by her father when she was only 3 years old. Before becoming famous in youtube, her mom even had to beg the tv executives in her home studio for guestings in their shows but she received only minimum exposure which dwindled to nothing at all until she started getting noticed abroad.

If you go to youtube.com and type in her name, you will see hundreds of videos of her various performances and home videos. However, these are my favourites:

I BELIEVE -- her first performance with a live orchestra - one of, if not her best peformance

I never heard of Chrice until just a few weeks ago. Since then I've put up six related blog posts about her with dozens of videos, all with dates and details. Please check it out! Go to bolstablog.com and search for "Charice." Here are some of my comments:

Charice represents the kind of world we all pray for when we close our eyes and dare to dream. That may sound like an enormous and unreasonable burden to place on the shoulders of a sixteen-year-old girl, but ultimately, it is not how she shows up in the world that matters so much, it is how her joyous spirit touches us, lifts us up, makes us believe in not only her goodness but our own. Charice is far more than just a teenage girl, she is a force of nature. Her mere presence in this world blesses us and makes us strong.

How did Ellen become aware of Charice? Ellen saw a YouTube video of Charice’s powerhouse performance on Star King, a South Korean talent show, on October 13, 2007.

Why is this performance so electrifying?
• First of all, Charice strode confidently on stage like a seasoned veteran and blew the gates off with her first note, instantly establishing the richness and maturity of her voice.
• Second, she didn’t just command the stage, she owned it. I’m surprised she didn’t take it back home to the Philippines as a memento. After all, it was her property!
• Third, the complete package she presented was astonishing—the way she so naturally complemented her voice with such savvy, apropos moves seemed almost preternatural.
• Fourth, the song she chose, And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going, is universally recognized as a make-or-break song that separates the wannabes from the pros, yet she made it her own as if she had been born to sing it.
• FIfth, she was an unknown, which made the juxtaposition between her incredibly powerful voice and her schoolgirl appearance even more jarring.
• Sixth, her sheer force of personality transfixed the crowd—her mid-air mic switch and deft audience interaction effectively announced, not just to those in attendance but to the millions who would soon be YouTubing her all over the world, that, ready or not, here was a force to be reckoned with.
• Seventh, she projected a genuine, pure and joyous spirit, enabling her to transcend her immediate circumstances and effortlessly transport the audience into a higher realm of emotional and spiritual intimacy.
• Eighth, this was the performance that catapulted Charice’s career into hyperdrive. Our first glimpse of her was the precise moment that Charice left her childhood behind—no longer a girl but on the cusp of womanhood, no longer a singer but a superstar in waiting. Instinctively, in that first moment, we knew this was so. And we had the goose bumps to prove it.
